While I was fiddling around with the layout to my planned fotoweb, in the corner of my eye I saw a dark shadow crawl along the curtain on my right side. I soon realized it is a beautiful butterfly, most likely one of those we hatched ourselves in the balcony flower box.
With the blink of an eye all four cats were alarmed by something moving. 4 tails nervously wagging, 7 eyes rapidly following each move, and while I was trying to save the beautiful creature from the lusting eyes of the four-legged monsters, the poor creature did the worst it could. It flew up against the ceiling right behind the shelf where of course I can not reach however much I want. But the cats can jump up there and so they did, and in one second Lilli caught it, and most likely severly hurt it and it must have fallen down behind the shelf, because there was no munching, but nervous paw-fiddling between wall and shelf.
I fear we now have a half dead butterfly behind our shelf, which is mounted to the wall, so even if I took out the half million books and other stuff we keep in there I could not save him.
Poor butterfly, I really wanted to save him, but he got scared of me and now he is suffering. Or maybe, which I really hope: Lilli caught him so bad he died instantaneously and didn't suffer. Once we move out of this place in x-years we will probably find more carcasses of murdered critters.
I love my cats, but goddess, they are cruel.
