There can never be too many strawberries in a season. The only thing I really love about summer are the strawberries. Heavenly fruit! So red and tempting, deliciously sweet and plumb, rich with flavor, ripe and soft. Big strawberries, small strawberries, biting in feeling how a little drop of the sweet juice runs down your lips and with a quick lick of your tongue capture it in the last second before you bite in it again.
Ah strawberries are like heaven. If I could picture heaven - assuming there is one, it would be an endless field of strawberries, ripe and red, ready to be picked.
And because Mr. Happy feels the same way about them and we are lucky enough to live close to some strawberry fields, hunter and collector he is, he uses every spare he can find to handpick this heavenly berry so during summer it seems we have a neverending supply of this dream-come-true.
Just for the fun of it we planted some in our balcony box and it looks like we'll have a nice harvest soon. We can hardly wait.
