is a state, but more importantly it is a band. One that I very much like. And their front-woman Sharleen Spiteri is exceptionally timeless beautiful, but that is not why I envy her. I envy her for the fact that in two of their music videos she gets to be sooooooo close to Alan Rickman (never knew I had it in for "older guys") and Jean Reno ...
Ah well, I'll always have Paris (Texas, as in the Wim Wenders movie after which supposedly Texas named their band). Enjoy:
Texas- In Demand
Texas - I'll see it through

Still one of my all-time favorites: Delavega-Surely
I first discovered the song through one of my favorite photographers on Photoblog.be
And as luck has it, this photographer also happened to be the official photographer for a band-shooting and she was so kind to send me two autographed CDs when they were still unavailable in the stores in Germanyy or on itunes. Now of course you can buy them.
The band is belgian and I REALLY love the CDs.
This is their video on youtube:

If I have to hear that horrible Fergie-song: Big girls don't cry ONE MORE TIME ...
I am telling you THIS big girl is SO GOING to cry! Because ...
It's my party and I cry if I want to ...

... for what you've got ... song by Massive Attack, that I like a lot.
This morning when I was riding my bike to work I realized I am - thankful - for what I got. That I can ride my bike, enjoy the sun, fresh air .. the things I see on my way. Namely today I had my eyes on old ladies walking their dogs. Did you ever realize that these ladies look especially happy? They have a friend, a companion, somebody to care for, somebody to talk to, somebody to sit with on the sofa in the evening when they watch their favorite tv show or anything else.
I think every old lady should have a dog. Although I have cats I have always been a dog person. Still am. I am definitely going to have a dog when I am retired. Probably a cat too. And maybe a couple of guinea pigs ... I don't know .... I just want to have animals around me. Selfish? Yes, definitely! Why I think old ladies should rather have a dog than a cat? Well, easy. A dog needs to get out, so the old lady needs to go with the dog too. That way she'll meet other people and invariably gets to talk to them too. That's just how dog-people are. Just like cat-people, only you can't know if one has a cat - unless you meet them at the pet store buying food or in the supermarket aisle with the cat-food - but dog people usually take their dogs with them when they go for a walk.
I think old people, not only the ladies - but in general they live longer than men - would be so much happier if they had a dog.
I am thankful for old ladies with dogs. It's a good way to start your day.

can you imagine a time where you could sing a song like this:
Written by Laura Nyro
Recorded by The 5th Dimension
Bill, I love you so, I always will
I look at you and see the passion eyes of May
Oh, but am I ever gonna see my wedding day
I was on your side Bill when you were losin'
I never scheme or lie Bill, there's been no foolin'
But kisses and love won't carry me till you marry me Bill
I love you so, I always will
And in your voice I hear a choir of carousels
Oh, but am I ever gonna hear my wedding bells
I was the one who came runnin' when you were lonely
I haven't lived one day not lovin' you only
But kisses and love won't carry me til you marry me Bill
I love you so, I always will
And though devotion rules my heart I take no bows
But Bill you're never gonna take those wedding vows
Oh, come on Bill
Oh, come on Bill
Come on and marry me Bill
I got the wedding bell blues
Please marry me Bill
I got the wedding bell blues
Marry me Bill

Max Melvin is still going strong, although I must have heard the same song for the last two days without end. I haven't tired of it yet. Need a little Magnolia yourself?

Kool & The Gang
Classic. Suits this day. The warm weather. The sunshine. The feeling. The breakfast at the beergarden. Going to bed with this sound. Sleeping. Dreaming of a beautiful day.
